ISRO Chairman Visited Cusat Radar Centre

KOCHI:
Dr. A.S. Kiran Kumar, Chairman, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), and Union Secretary, Department of Space (DoS) visited the ST Radar Facility at the Advanced Centre for Atmospheric Radar Research (ACARR), Cusat on 12 th July. He appreciated the efforts of the CUSAT Team in indigenously developing and establishing the 205 MHz Stratosphere-Troposphere Radar, the first of its kind in the world.
He said that the CUSAT Radar is of international importance since it has the capability to improve the short term weather forecasting and related research. It has the tremendous opportunity to grow the capability in this area. Severe weather events such as thunderstorms could be predicted with an ample lead time so that fatalities could be avoided. He stressed for the need of sharing the ST radar data in real-time mode through a
