HSIL Partners with The Indian Institute of Architects, Donates 1,000 Bathroom

HSIL Limited, the leading sanitaryware company in India, announced its commitment to ‘Build Kerala’ as a responsible corporate citizen, by donating 1000 bathroom sets to Kerala flood affected victims. Each set includes a European closet, Cistern and a Wash Basin.

Dr. R.K. Somany, Chairman and Managing Director, HSIL Limited, Chief Guest Prof K.V Thomas, Member of Parliament and Former Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Guest of Honor Mohammed Y Safirulla, IAS, District Collector, Ernakulam were present at the event organized by the Kerala Chapter of The Indian Institute of Architects, at Koothambalam, Silversand Island, Vytilla. Renowned architects such as Lalichan Zacharias, Jt. Secretary, National IIA and Ramachandran V.N- Chairman, IIA Cochin Centre were also present and Prof. Ar. B.R Ajit, Chairman , Indian Institute of Architects , Kerala Chapter chaired the meeting.

HSIL Limited, makers of iconic brand sanitaryware Hindware aims to reach and aid in rehabilitating 1000 families in flood-affected areas of Ernakulam, Calicut, Trichur, Wynad, Kannur, Kottayam, Idukki, Allepey and Aramula.

Commenting at the occasion, Dr. R.K. Somany, Chairman and Managing Director, HSIL Limited said, “In August 2018, Kerala witnessed the worst case of flooding in nearly a century leaving thousands homeless and large areas uninhabitable. We want to contribute to ‘Rebuild Kerala’ and thus have committed to donates 1,000 bathroom bathrooms sets to flood-affected victims. We deeply mourn the many lives that have been lost in this calamity and as a company we are dedicated to support the people of Kerala in this time of crisis.”

He further added, “Sanitation is one of the most important social responsibility part of maintaining basic hygiene and by donating bathroom sets, we hope to benefit 1000 flood-affected families in rebuilding their homes.”

HSIL Limited is a customer-oriented brand and therefore in the wake of Kerala flood, the company also launched a service camp for 30 days from 25 th August to 25 th September 2018 in an effort to support the flood-affected customers in the state. A cross-functional task force was set up through which the contact centre was kept operational on even Sundays and service charges were waived off 100% and 50% discounts were offered on spare parts. More than 4,500 requests were received during the campaign of which, 88 per cent calls were attended within 2 days and 98 per cent within 7 days.

Speaking on the contribution by HSIL Limited, Prof. Ar. B.R Ajit, Chairman, IIA Kerala Chapter said, “HSIL Limited is the most reputed sanitaryware company in India and we are appreciative of this magnanimous gesture of donating 1000 bathroom sets. IIA Kerala Chapter along with its eight centres spread across districts in Kerala and HSIL Limited together will be able to benefit the people of Kerala.”

Earlier in the week, The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Kerala Chapter organized a workshop titled “Architects Conclave” for architects from all states of Kerala after assessing the damage caused in the flood-affected areas of the region. An exhibition was also held during the Conclave where various centres and architects displayed their proposals for cost effective houses that can be built within a very short period and withstand the floods.
