THRISSUR:
Hyatt Regency Thrissur in association with The Blue Yonder, a travel company which promotes responsible travel, jointly launches ‘Experience Nila’ as part of Hyatt Loves Local- a global campaign by Hyatt Hotels to uplift and collaborate with small businesses that have been impacted by COVID-19.
The project encourages and supports indigenous artisans from the banks of Nila River who have been deeply impacted by the pandemic. As part of the association, unique native products like the Kilimangalam traditional grass mats, handloom fabrics, musical instruments, and products made of bamboo, pine and clay will be displayed at Hyatt Regency Thrissur every weekend until March 31st 2021 for guests to purchase. They can also interact with the artisans. Nila river has played a prominent role in the social, historical and cultural heritage of Kerala. The river is an indispensable part of Kerala as the indigenous culture of Malayalam language has been created and sustained by the great flow of this river.
Nila is not just any river but epitomizes a rich and varied culture that has evolved over the banks. And we take pride in being associated with ‘Experience Nila’ project by Blue Yonders which focuses on Responsible Tourism. Their indigenous products have stories of centuries to narrate,” said Animesh Barat, General Manager, Hyatt Regency Thrissur.
We are here to showcase the rich and diverse culture of River Nila. Association with Hyatt will help us reach out to a discerning global audience while bringing in direct benefits to artists and artisans along the river,” said Gopinath Parayil, Founder, The Blue Yonder.
More than 60 Hyatt hotels and resorts in destinations across the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East are providing complimentary resources and exposure to select local businesses that have struggled during the pandemic. From culinary and wellness to fashion and art, Hyatt Loves Local community collaborations span a variety of industries and are taking place at Hyatt properties now and rolling out many more.
