  • ‘Medha -2020’, CUSAT University Union Knowledge Fest Begins

    KOCHI:
    ‘Medha -2020’, the Knowledge fest organized by Cochin university union was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Dr K.N. Madhusoodanan.

    The Vice Chancellor said in his inaugural speech that ‘Medha-2020’ is a prestigious program which is being organized by the university students’ union on academic level and it is very much beneficial for students to incorporate various disciplines rather than sticking to the syllabus. Dr Madhusoodanan added that regular organizing of these types of programs can eliminate unhealthy practices among students.

    The meeting was presided over by Union Chairman Sobin Shaji. Dr P.G. Sankaran, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr Gireesh Kumar K.K., Union Treasurer, Prajul K.V., Syndicate Member and Aswant M.P., Union General Secretary spoke at the function. The event focuses on the various emerging technologies and its role in the development of science aimed at reconstruction of Kerala. Seminars, workshops and lectures are being conducted on the same theme.

    More than 200 delegates from CUSAT, various universities and affiliated colleges are participating. Dr Ashraf S, Professor, IITMK, P.C. Rajan Babu, Retired Chief Electrical Inspector, Dr K.G. Tara, former chief of Disaster Management Centre, Dr. Anoop Krishnan, scientist, NCESS, Dr. Krishnakumar B, Scientist, CSIR-NIIST, Rajan Gurukkal, Vice Chairman of Kerala State Higher Education Council, Prof. Sunil P. Ilayidom, Professor of Kalady Sanskrit University, Dr P. Rajan , Chief Engineer, Transgrid, KSEB delivered lectures in various sessions on topics like electrical safety, modern methods of electrical transmission, machine learning and various aspects of rebuilding in the light of disaster management.     Padma Shri G. Sankar will speak on the topic ‘Sustainable building for rebuilding Kerala’; Kerala Automobile Limited MD Shahjahan Ahmed Kunju will speak on the topic ‘Carbon neutral technology’. Kerala Energy Management Center Joint Director Dr Harikumar, CUSAT Retd. Professor Dr. Vijayakumar, Barton Hill GEC. Professor Dr. Ramesh Kumar will deliver special talks on the topic ‘Renewable energy’; Dr. Sabu Thomas, Vice Chancellor, M.G University, Dr Rajashree M.S, Vice Chancellor, K.T.U, and CUSAT Vice Chancellor Dr. K.N. Madhusoodanan will speak on the topic ‘Modern trends in science and technology research’; M.G. university Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar, Dr A. Krishnakumar, Scientist at NCESS and Regional Agricultural Research Station Asst. Professor Dr Ajith K will speak on the topic ‘Climate change’.
