  • Mereena Group to Create 10,000 Job Opportunities and Support Ockh​i Affected People

    KOCHI:
    The Mereena Group, manufacturers of the well known ‘Pearlac’ brand Thinner, Wood Finish, Auto finish and decorative paints will introduce an innovative project to create 10,000 job opportunities in the painting sector.
    Mereena Group CEO Xavierkutty Puthethu, said that the job opportunities will be created through the Pearlac brand of paints. Mereena Group will directly identify the work sites​ and undertake the works so that employment could be created in this sector. There is a great demand for painting works in houses, multi-storeyed buildings, automobile workshops, marine yards and various other places. Contractors and painting workers of Mereena Group will be entrusted to execute the work.
    Xavierkutty Puthethu said that there are also plans to start contract works at Saudia Arabia, Oman, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait.  To support the Ockhi cyclone affected people, 1,000 jobs will be set aside for them.
    A discussion was held with Bishop Soosapakyam and ensured employment opportunities and free paints for the reconstruction of houses in Ockhi affected areas. Mereena Group is also planning for a project to help the small and medium entrepreneurs. Petroleum products including Pet Coke and PVC resin will be imported. Mereena Group is in the process of signing agreement with various companies.
    As part of the diversification, the company will be entering into food processing sector also. Mereena Agro Products will produce various value added products from coconut, tapioca, jack fruit and Dry Garcinia Cambogia (Kudam puli).
    Food processing units will be established at various places and more employment opportunities could be created.
    The company is expecting a turnover of Rs 200 crore this year and will go for Public Issue in future. With the completion of these projects, the company is expecting to have a turnover of Rs 5,000 crores within next five years.
