  • Aegon Brings its Flagship Hackathon to India

    MUMBAI:
    The fourth Aegon Hackathon concluded today on a spectacular note at a co-working place iKeva in Powai, Mumbai. It was simultaneously held in Budapest (Hungary) and Dallas (USA) on the same dates – 20 th and 21 st September.

    As Hackathon this year brought together people with multi-cultural backgrounds and diverse experience for one mission; Wealth and Health 2030 which focuses on the well-being of the customers. The main agenda behind the hackathon is to create a working prototype of Deliver ready to experiment disruptive concepts aligned to Aegon’s purpose to help people achieve a lifetime of financial security.

    Vineet Arora, MD & CEO Aegon Life Insurance India Company said, “A lifetime of financial security has two fundamental ingredients: Wealth + Health. Both are important to the stability of people’s lives and are prone to unforeseen events. At Aegon Life, we want to improve the wealth and health of our customers and employees, adding more years to their lives and more life to their years.”

    An all-girls team from Hyderabad won the Mumbai leg of the Aegon Hackathon for their innovation – Silent Heart Attack Detector prototype. Name of the team members are Cherukupalli Harika, Sai Naga Rekha Athmakuri, Gopu Vedika, Kota Akshitha & Illuru Sahitya and all of them are currently pursuing final year of B.tech in Electronics and Communications Engineering.

    The winning teams in each location received €500 cash card per team member. Second and third runner up teams bagged tech subscriptions 40worth €200 per person. Up to €36,000 were made available in each region to fund promising concepts to push to market with a solid return on investment plan. The winning teams received a personal LinkedIn endorsement from Andrew Byrne, CEO Aegon Asia.

    Saba Adil, Chief People and Operating Officer, Aegon Life Insurance India Company said, “The 24 hour Hackathon provided a platform to students and professionals alike. Innovation and customer centricity is very much part of our culture and Hackathon provides as a perfect platform to solve customer problems as well as develop solutions that bring customer delight.”

    She further adds, “It also helps them learn in a steep curve through collaboration, competitive streak and sometimes both. Aegon Hackathon is an example of how when diverse skillsets and demographics come together to sharpen their capabilities of problem solving, technology focus and disruptive thinking.”

    The Hackathon saw an overwhelming response with participation of 1100+ members for this year and 150+ ideas.
