  • Muthoot M George Foundation Announces Professional Education Scholarship in Kerala

    KOCHI:
    Muthoot M George Foundation, the corporate social responsibility wing of Muthoot Finance Ltd, today announced the launch of a new scholarship program for students pursuing professional courses though its educational initiative ‘Muthoot M George Excellence Scholarship’. The scholarship program which was earlier offered to topper students of Class 10 Government schools is now being extended to students pursuing their professional education courses in Medicine, Engineering B.Sc Nursing and B.Com.
    Students who secure 80% or equivalent grading in qualifying examination and whose family income is below Rs. 2 lakh per annum will be eligible for applying for scholarship. The selected candidate will be entitled to the scholarship every till the completion of the course. Through these scholarships, the Foundation hopes to reach out and encourage children from the deprived classes to help them become financially independent post completion of the course.
    Proposed spending
    George Alexander Muthoot, MD, Muthoot Finance said, “Our prime objective of awarding these scholarships is to reach out and encourage the children from the deprived class, in their endeavour to build a strong career and become financially independent. Through our various CSR initiatives, we will continue to remain duly committed towards our society with the vision to enhance the quality of life of communities that we serve.”
    The Muthoot Group has been extending its support towards the education of underprivileged schoolchildren by awarding scholarships to 10th standard toppers from Government Schools in the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Last year, 1343 students benefitted through this initiative. This year the Group plans to reach 1800 schools in Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Mumbai, Goa and Andhra Pradesh.
    Over the years, The Muthoot Group has been reshaping millions of lives through its social service and philanthropic deeds. The Group has been actively involved in a number of CSR initiatives in domains like education, environment, sanitation, health and medical aid as well as financial aid to the economically backward classes.
    Those who apply for the scholarship, need to write clearly on the envelop that “Application for Muthoot Education Scholarship Programme – (The name of the Course)”.
