Biennale Music Offer Patients a Melange of Popular Songs

The venue may have lacked the sophisticated arrangement of a popular stage show, but the music that escaped the vocal chords of the singer who sang ‘Suprabhatham’ set the tone for another hit performance at the Government General Hospital, Ernakulam today.
At the 131st edition of the ‘Arts and Medicine’ show, professional singers Deepu Rajan and Sindhu Thirumeni treated the patients to an hour-long rendition of classy music much to their delight. The two strung together nine melodies from the black-and-white to the colour era of Mollywood.
Deepu started with the song ‘Suprabhatham’ from the movie ‘Panitheeratha Veedu’, followed by ‘Chempaka thaikal’, from the movie, ‘Kaathirunna Nimisham’. The singers crooned half a dozen more songs, ending the show with the popular number, ‘Ammave vanangathe uyirillaye’ from the Tamil movie ‘Mannan’.
Hailing from Palluruthy, Deepu has a musical experience of 23 years and is a part of popular TV programmes. He is also an excellent Mridangam player who competed in state level competitions while in school. Deepu is associated with, and shares his interests with the artist Pradeep Palluruthy.
“To recognise a fellow being in need of solace and be to able to help through the means of music is what I am doing at the moment,” said Deepu. “Music leaves an eternal impression in the minds of people and this effort by the Kochi Biennale Foundation is highly commendable.” Sindhu from Eramalloor, is learning music and violin, and also participates in musical programmes.
The weekly show organised by the Kochi Biennale Foundation in association with Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre Limited and Mehboob Memorial Orchestra is an initiative to provide healing through music.
