  • Govt to Take Steps for Tansfer of Industrial Lands, Minister E P Jayarajan

By NE Reporter on December 24, 2019

    KOCHI:
Minister of Industries, Commerce, Sports and Youth Affairs E P Jayarajan said that steps will be taken by the government for the transfer of industrial lands to ensure increase in employment and production.

Inaugurating Technocity, the venture of Kerala State Small Industries Association (KSSIA) and Piravom Technolodge, here the Minister said that the Government will improve the infrastructure of all the industrial estates in the State. This will help in attracting more entrepreneurs to start new industries at these places.

“The Government is planning to start Coconut Parks at Kozhikode, Kannur and Kozhikode districts in 100 acres of land each. Entrepreneurs will be given 2 acres of land in these Parks to start Coconut based industries and the expenditure for them will only be the cost of the machinery”, Jayarajan said.

The minister said that Startups can play a major role in future for the expansion of the industries in the State and lauded the efforts of KSSIA in coming out with the new project to help the young generation in starting new ventures. The inventions in science and technology should be used for the upliftment of human beings and Startups too should be encouraged to achieve the goal, he added.

The startup culture in Kerala is coming out with several new ideas and many of them have now become employers. The Startups should concentrate on how to increase the production, profit, new marketing strategies and increase the turnover of the companies.

In 2018-19, investment of Rs 400 crore reached Kerala for Startups. Now there are around 40,000 sq feet space occupied by various Startups and the biggest is in Integrated Startup Complex, Kalamassery. Now there is no scope for big industries in Kerala, he said.

The Government policy is to protect the big industries and encourage small scale industries. The government also liberalised policy for getting various sanctions through online, the minister said.

VKC Mammed Koya, MLA, who delivered the keynote address said that the Government should take practical solutions for the transfer of land for industrialists. The industrial department should give more prominence for the suggestions of the KSSIA.

M Khalid, State president, KSSIA, who presided over the function said that the entrepreneurs at the Techncocity will be provided with high speed internet connectivity, uninterrupted power, UPS, generator, reception, front office, meeting room, discussion room and separate cabins with aircondition. The entrepreneurs at the Technocity will have the support of Kerala IT Mission and KSIDC.

He pointed out that an entrepreneur could use the facility at Technocity at Rs 3000 a month, which is lower when compared to any other place. Technocity will provide service of experienced mentors to help the entrepreneurs, who are coming up with ideas, he added.
