Cochin University Senate member Sasikala performed a Kathakali demonstration course in Norfolks, Virginia. The event was organized by Norfolks Sister City Organization in.
Sasikala is a Commerce post graduate and is a member of CUSAT Senate, representing recognized cultural organizations. She is a well-known Kathakali practitioner who has been organizing events for the tourism department and many cultural organizations in India and abroad.
She was trained under Kathakali masters E. Vasudevan Nair and Padma Shri Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair. Sasikala’s performance in the roles of Lalitha, Mohini, Kunti and Damayanti has garnered the best opinion of the spectators. Sasikala’s presentation has been witnessed by prominent figures including former President Giani Zail Singh and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. She has presented Kathakali in Bahrain, Hong Kong and Kuwait.
