The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI) Kochi Chapter said that the construction activities which was restarted after the lock down with strict restrictions was not able to be taken forward with the migrant labourers in construction sector started leaving to their native places.
CREDAI Kochi President Ravi Jacob said that the construction sector will be at a standstill with the police compulsorily asking the migrant labourers from the construction site to leave Kerala. During the lock down period, the builders were taking care of the labourers at various sites and camps under their full responsibility and , expenditure, by strictly following the government guidelines.
The forceful evacuation of the labourers will result in the construction sector coming to a standstill. The activities of the police in this regard will hinder the construction activities which has to be completed before the monsoon season.
He also added that the train services are introduced for those who want to visit their native place and not forcibly asking them to leave Kerala. The Government should intervene in this matter at the earliest.
The Government should take the initiative in allowing the migrant labourers to visit their native place who are not having jobs at the present circumstances. Those who are having an earning in the lock down period should be allowed to continue their stay here, they added.
