Punjab National Bank, India’s second largest public sector bank today celebrated the Hindi Diwas and Rajbhasha Samaroh across its 10897 branches and all administrative offices.
The function was presided over by CH. S. S. Mallikarjuna Rao, MD & CEO of PNB at PNB’s Head Office in Dwarka, New Delhi. The bank felicitated divisional heads who successfully implemented the use of Hindi language in their respective division under Lala Lajpat Rai Rajbhasha Shield Yojna.
The divisions were honored for their excellent work in implementation of the official language in their day to day activities and in transactions. PNB has been celebrating the Hindi month to encourage the use of official language. Various programmes including Hindi competition, workshops, seminars were organized across branches. The employees rendering good performance across Zonal Offices, Training Centers, ZAO and House Magazines etc. were awarded.
On the occasion of the Hindi Diwas, CH. S. S. Mallikarjuna Rao, MD & CEO of PNB said that it is an honor for the Bank to receive the “Rajbhasha Kirti” “First Prize” for the third consecutive year from Rajbhasha Vibhag, Home Ministry, Government of India. The use of Hindi in banking is not only a statutory requirement but also a business need. To connect to customers well, the usage of Hindi and other Indian languages is important, especially in the remote locations, Rao added.
The bank organized a cultural program for the staff members of the bank & their family members. Executive Directors of Bank Dr. Rajesh Kumar Yaduvanshi, Sanjay Kumar, Vijay Dube, Agyey Kumar Azad and V. K. Tyagi, CVO were also present. Other Senior Executives, Chief General Managers, General Managers and Bank employees were also present on the occasion. Manisha Sharma, Assistant General Manager (O.L.) and Baldev Malhotra, Chief Manager (O.L.) proposed the Vote of Thanks.
