

MUMBAI:
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Unnayan Edu Services recently organized a series of webinar workshops on capacity building for commerce and accountancy teachers with over 850+ teachers and 325+ schools participating from various school boards. During the workshop Anurag Tripathi, IRPS Secretary, CBSE and Sajid Khan, Head of International Development, ACCA launched the ‘ Finance Experience and Engagement Lab- FEEL’ which would equip schools to adopt art integrated learning pathway to engage more efficiently and effectively with their students. Schools can look forward to having this lab by becoming an ACCA and Unnayan centre of excellence.
The workshops showcased fun, engaging methodologies that commerce teachers could implement to help students improve their critical thinking skills, provide an equitable learning environment for collective learning and hone business skills for future growth. Addressing the inaugural workshop, Anurag Tripathi, IRPS Secretary, CBSE, said, “We are pleased to see that ACCA and Unnayan Education Services have taken the first step in line with the new National Education Policy (NEP) to create and run capacity building workshops for teachers to take ahead experiential learning, art-integrated learning and activity based learning for their students. Art integrated learning not only makes learning fun, but also provides an inclusive approach of classroom engagement. We are also pleased to note that students today can enroll for the ACCA qualification from Standard 11 onwards and can pursue a global career in finance and accountancy early on.”
At the beginning of the first session, Sajid Khan, Head of International Development, ACCA said, “The capacity building workshop is aimed at enabling teachers with the right tools, ideas and concept to implement experiential and activity-based learning in line with the National Education Policy.
To further support this art-integrated education, we are also launching Finance Experience and Engagement Lab- FEEL, an initiative designed for schools to make learning holistic, integrated, enjoyable, and engaging for students. These initiatives are in line with ACCA’s commitment to helping students develop the right skills and competencies that are required in this increasingly complex business environment”
Speaking at the webinar workshop, N Muralidharan- Pro Vice Chairman, Delhi Public School, Chas and Director- Unnayan Educational Services, said, “Each of the webinar workshops helped to provide teachers with hands on activities, as well as ideas and concepts to implement in their classrooms. We are happy to have showcased how art integrated learning could work for commerce subjects such as accountancy, entrepreneurship, business studies and economics.”
Through each webinar workshop, teachers focused on the importance of experiential learning, determined how art integrated learning and activity based learning could be implemented in commerce subjects. The workshop also offered interactive discussions on effective methods of engagement with students in classrooms, getting a business lab for students, etc. Teachers were awarded with a participation certificate at the end.
The capacity building workshops for commerce and accountancy teachers was also attended by Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General- EDI India, Kush Ahuja, Head of Business Development, ACCA Renjith Varma, Head of Partnerships- ACCA and Malini Narayanan, Chairperson, NPSC & Principal, Army Public School – Shankar Vihar and Dr Hemlata S Mohan, President Award Winner and Chairperson-CCRT.
