By NE Reporter on January 7, 2021

    KOCHI:
The Anant Fellowship for Climate Action has announced that applications have opened for the class of 2021. This unique multidisciplinary programme received over 1578 applications from 36 countries, for 20 seats last year. Some of the fellows of the founding cohort hold prominent positions in government or private firms, while others are Deans at universities, entrepreneurs, students. The first of its kind, the Fellowship has become one of the most sought after programmes internationally as it offers individuals ways to be part of the solution to mitigate climate change.

A Fellow in the founding cohort, Sigrid Vasconez, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador, said “When I found out about the Fellowship, what immediately caught my attention was the search for solutionaries. ‘Solutionaries’ brought me a very potent image of people that either individually or connected are finding ways in which to confront climate change across the globe. That thought of working, collaborating, and cooperating to bring about change, inspired me.”

The one-year Fellowship programme focuses on 3 pillars –

Technical skills: Interactive sessions by leading international and Indian academics and practitioners such as Adam Schlosser (Professor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA), Vandana Shiva (Environmentalist and Founder, Navdanya, India), Lucas Chancel (Director of the World Inequality Lab) across carbon accounting, energy efficiency, industry best practices, and climate policy; flipped classroom learning on the online platform; live virtual immersions into communities through week long virtual outstation journeys.

Change Management: Reshaping how we learn, work and live together to catalyze change for the good of society by faculty such as Devdutt Pattanaik (Author, India) and Lise Anna Bruynooghe (Director, Organisational Design, EBRD, UK).

Personal boosters: Individual coaching by some of the best coaches in the world at The School of Change, Switzerland. Mentoring to help Fellows achieve their objectives by an illustrious group of mentors including Laurence Tubiana (CEO of the European Climate Foundation, Chair of the Board of Governors at the French Development Agency), Adam Werbach (Global head for sustainable packaging, Amazon, USA), Chetan Maini (CEO, Sun Mobility), Dr. Arunabha Ghosh (founder-CEO, CEEW), Amer Vohora (Partner, VALUEworks AG, Switzerland), Mustapha Mokass (CEO, Beya Capital), Anoop Ratnakar Rao (Founder, ReLife and ex-CEO, Naandi), Dhaval Monani (Founder, First Home Realty Solutions Pvt. Ltd.), Manish Kharbanda (Advisor, Jindal Steel & Power), Indra Guha (Partner, Think Through Consulting, India), Lise Bruynooghe (Executive Coach, ProFound Consulting), Mahua Acharya (CEO, Convergence Energy at EESL), Maureen Nandini Mitra (Editor, Earth Island Journal, USA). Dr. Diana Mangalagiu, (Professor, University of Oxford, UK)

The Anant Fellowship for Climate Action is a member of MIT Solve, an initiative of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, with a mission to solve world challenges.

After the completion of the Fellowship, Fellows are expected to take on leadership positions in the USD 2 trillion climate change industry. They are also invited to remain members of the Anant Fellowship for Climate Action community.

Led by Dr. Miniya Chatterji, an award-winning sustainability expert, says, “The Anant Fellowship for Climate Action is a unique opportunity for anyone across the world who seeks to lead the most impactful solutions for slowing down the pace of our changing climate.” The programme endeavours to offer a dynamic and credible platform to resolve crucial climate concerns, and challenges specific to an emerging economy such as India. Fellows have an option to choose between the full-time or a part-time learning track. There are no age, degree, background criteria to apply for the fellowship.

To apply and know more about the programme, visit the programme website https://anu.edu.in/programme/anant-fellowship-for-climate-action/. The deadline for submission of the first round of applications is 28 February 2021.
