CETAA Global Meet 2016 being organised by the Cochin Chapter will be held at Bolgatty Palace, the heritage island of Kochi, on December 2 and 3.
CETAA, the alumni association of college of engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. The theme for this year’s meet is “Winds of Change for a Better Tomorrow’.
The chairman of the Meet S Gopakumar said that as part of this year’s global meet, we have constituted awards for young entrepreneurs to promote their Innovation ability. The Best Innovation Award will carry an amount of Rs.5,00,000 and two Consolation Awards will carry an amount of Rs.2,00,000 each.
Entries on Innovations done within the last 3 years which have direct or indirect social impact are being evaluated by the jury consisting of Dr. K.P .Isaac -Vice Chancellor, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University
, G. Vijayaraghavan – Former Planning Board Member, Founder CEO Technopark, Dr. Jayasankar Prasad – CEO, Start up Mission, Govt. of Kerala. ETAA Kochi would like to continue with the Innovation awards as a long term project in the coming years also.
The inauguration of the meet will be held at 5pm on 2 nd December 2016. Elias George, MD KMRL will be the chief guest for the inaugural function and Anthony Thomas, Chief Information Officer, GE will deliver the key note address.
The inaugural function will be followed by entertainments which include the performances of Ragatharangam (orchestra by CETAA Trivandruam), Dance by Srilankan troupe and the lightning percussion extravaganza by Sivamani.
The technical session on the theme “Winds of Change for a Better Tomorrow” to be held during the forenoon of 3rd December will be handled by MS Unnikrishnan, MD & CEO of Thermax Global Ltd., Padmasree Bunker Roy, founder of the Barefoot College, and Siby Vadakkekara, CEO Marlabs.
K Jayakumar, VC Malayalam University will be the chief guest for the valedictory session to be held in the evening on 3rd December. Dr. Babu Paul, former Chief Secretary of Kerala, will be the guest of honour. The innovation awards will be given away by Jahangir Vice Chairman & MD Nest group. The valedictory function will be followed by entertainments by CETAA members.
College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (CET) is the oldest Engineering College in the state of Kerala. Started in 1939, CET now offers eight undergraduate and nineteen post graduate and doctoral proragrammes. In its 77 years of existence CET has shaped brilliant engineers, scientists, administrators and academicians who occupy seminal positions in organizations around the world.

CETAA is perhaps today one of the world’s largest and strongest communities of Engineers. It has about 17000 members and 165 centers spread across 47 countries. CETAA is in to many social, technical and service activities those aim at the betterment of society. One of the prestigious programmes of CETAA coined as HOPE (Helping Outstanding Students in Education), started by the CETAA Dubai chapter is offering scholarships to more than 400 students at high school and higher secondary levels, spread across the 14 districts of Kerala.
