MUMBAI:
In celebration of National Handloom Day 2025, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will host a vibrant two-day Handloom Exhibition-cum-Sale on 7th and 8th August 2025 at its Head Office premises in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai.
The event will feature 15 curated stalls, showcasing India’s diverse handloom traditions and providing artisans a direct platform to display and sell their exquisite creations to the public. This initiative reflects NABARD’s ongoing commitment to empowering traditional weavers and preserving India’s rich handloom heritage.
Visitors can look forward to purchasing, at a reasonable price, from an exquisite range of authentic, GI-tagged handloom products, including:
Kutch embroidery & Tangaliya (Gujarat)
Banarasi sarees, Mirzapur carpets & durries, Muzaffarnagar feather handloom, and Baghpat handloom (Uttar Pradesh)
Ambala handlooms (Haryana)
Batik print & Maheshwari sarees (Madhya Pradesh)
Jodhpur bandej (Rajasthan)
Pochampally ikkat (Telangana)
Paithani sarees (Maharashtra)
Mulberry and Tussar silk (Bihar)
Jamdani & Kantha sarees (West Bengal)
…and many more.
This exhibition also provides Mumbai’s residents with the opportunity to interact with artisans, understand the stories behind each weave, and purchase handcrafted products directly—ensuring both authenticity and fair value to the weavers.
As part of its annual tradition, NABARD celebrates National Handloom Day across its Head Office and all Regional Offices to honour the craftsmanship of India’s weaver communities and to promote sustainable livelihoods through traditional arts.
Observed every year on 7th August, National Handloom Day commemorates the launch of the Swadeshi Movement in 1905, symbolising the spirit of self-reliance and celebrating the vital role of handloom weavers in shaping India’s cultural and economic identity.
