KOCHI:
Scripting a new chapter in the state’s IT sector, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today inaugurated Infopark’s premium co-working space ‘i by Infopark’, which is set to operate on a 48,000 square feet area and create 550 jobs.
Declaring ‘i by Infopark’ open while virtually inaugurating a seminar, the Chief Minister handed over the permission certificate to Tony G. Thomas, co-founder of Zoho Corporation, the first company to start operations at the new facility.
The event marked the start of the operations at ‘i by Infopark’ at the Ernakulam South Metro Station building.
The inaugural ceremony was held at ‘ReCode Kerala Vision 2031’, conceived as a seminar aimed at shaping the future of Kerala’s IT industry. The day-long event at the KINFRA International Convention Centre in Kakkanad was organized by the state Electronics and IT Department.
The inaugural session was presided over by Minister for Industries, Law and Coir P. Rajeeve. P.V. Sreenijin, MLA, and Kochi Mayor M. Anilkumar were present. Special Secretary (E & IT) Seeram Sambasiva Rao presented a ten-year achievement report. Infopark and Cyberpark CEO Susanth Kurunthil proposed thanks.
‘i by Infopark’ operates on seven floors, from the third to the ninth floor. It is spread over an area of over 48,000 square feet and has more than 580 workstations. Spread across seven floors, each floor has an area of 6,530 square feet. It aims to provide jobs to more than 550 professionals.
With its plug-and-play furnished offices, ‘i by Infopark’ has workstations, event spaces, training room, meeting room, conference room, lounge, collab area (for collaborative discussions), phone booth and pantry. The facility is located in close proximity to the Ernakulam Junction Railway Station and KSRTC bus-stand, providing the benefit of the best multi-modal transit hub in south India.
This is Kerala’s first neurodiversity-friendly co-working space. Each floor has been designed with a specific design style to support individuals with conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD and dyslexia. Each floor has focus on a specific sense. For example, the third floor has special wallpapers and tiles focused on ‘sight’. The fourth floor is based on ‘taste’; the fifth floor on ‘smell’. The sixth is based on ‘touch’, while the remaining three floors (seventh, eighth and ninth) are based on ‘hearing’.
As is an ideal location for freelancers, gig workers, multinational companies, IT/IT-related companies and global capability centres, ‘i by Infopark’ is poised to become a major attraction for businesses looking for premium workspace in Kochi. The IT department has plans to expand similar centres across the state.
