AHMEDABAD:
The Dholera Special Investment Region of the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) is expected to be ready to allot land for anchor investors by September 2016, senior officials who reviewed progress on the project have said.
The monthly meeting to assess the status of the various trunk infrastructure projects in the 22.5 sq km Activation Area in Dholera was chaired by Arvind Agarwal, ACS, IMD, Govt of Gujarat and Chairman of the Dh
“I am very pleased with the overall progress and I am looking forward to quick implementation by the project teams,” said Agarwal.
Alkesh Kumar Sharma, CEO & MD of the DMIC Development Corporation and Ajay Bhadoo, MD, DICDL, and CEO, Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board, were among the officials who attended the meeting.
Sharma, who visited the project site and took stock of the ongoing construction, said the aim of the DMICDC was “to ensure world-class construction to attract world-class investors and to create a world-class city” in Dholera. He added that Dholera would be ready to allot land for anchor investors by September 2016.
“A land allotment policy is being finalized shortly,” said Ajay Bhadoo.
Bhadoo also assured the DMICDC of full state support in implementing the external connectivity projects for Dholera such as the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) and the Ahmedabad-Dholera expressway project. Sharma said the MRTS was accepted for funding under the JICA rolling plan and that the Expressway was being proposed as part of the Bharatmala project.
“Both of these actions bode well for Dholera since they will ensure faster connectivity with Ahmedabad,” he added.
A regular monthly review meeting is planned at the highest level to ensure that project issues are proactively addressed and the project completed ahead of schedule.
The DSIR is among the eight industrial regions planned in the first phase of the DMIC project. The entire project covers an area of approximately 920 sq. km and is a node strategically located near the industrial cities of Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat and Bhavnagar.
Since the entire trunk infrastructure cannot be implemented in a one go, a phased approach has been adopted for the project and an Activation Area of 22.5 sq. Km has been identified which would act as catalyst for further investments and will provide a base for taking up development of the remaining area.
Bureaucrat-turned-Rajya Sabha MP Varma said BM Anand “has given us a glimpse at our own undiscovered narrative”. Amnesia is a consequence of long colonialism, and the artist has erased some of it, he added. “Anand’s nudes betray an uninhibited flow soaked of occidental aesthetics even while he was anti-imperialist.”
Deshpande, who directs plays, acts and writes, said BM Anand deployed a range of styles, yet was slave to none. “There is an in-the-face quality to his work.”
Delhiite writer-biographer Aditi said the book strung together BM Anand’s personal stories in a way linking them to his art. Co-author Dr Pooke, who teaches in University of Kent, said BM Anand’s later, dystopian landscapes adapted motifs from aspects of European Surrealism while his art at large was stoked by anti-capitalist polemic. BM Foundation’s Neeraj Gulati and the artist’s daughter Kriti Anand also spoke.
