THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
A lecture on ‘Know Africa – History, Development, Science’ by the world renowned Prof Mammo Muchie will be held at the Institute of Engineers (India) hall on July 31, Monday.
Organised by Regional Centre of Expertise acknowledged by United Nations University (UNU RCE), the lecture will begin at 5 PM. Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA) is the regional headquarters of the UNU RCE, Thiruvananthapuram.
Prof Mammo Muchie, the Research Chair and Professor of Economics Research on Innovation (IERI) at the Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa, is a founding board member of Globelics, focusing on research on the challenges of building African innovation systems. He has promoted Africa and highlighted African Innovation and Development in Globelics foundation. He is also a visiting faculty at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
The lecture would cover areas such as Africa and its 54 countries, diverse languages, people, religions, Tribes and ethnic groups, resources and strengths; Issues such as historical beginnings, slave trade, colonial subjugation, the scramble for Africa, resistance, and way to independence; The whys and hows of under development, indigenous culture, ethnicities, languages and literature, art, thinking and philosophy; How Africans are treated; How Africans would like to be treated; and How Indo-African friendship can be mutually beneficial.
