  • ACCA Celebrates Partnership with Mahatma Gandhi University

    KOCHI:
    The global body for professional accountants, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala to launch a Professional Accountancy Programme along with the university’s undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

    This collaboration will benefit all affiliated colleges of Mahatma Gandhi University in offering graduate and post graduate courses integrated with ACCA, as well as providing support with course delivery through ACCA’s wide network of Approved Learning Partners in the region. The colleges will have the choice to take support from any of these Approved Learning Partners depending upon their requirements.

    With this programme, ACCA and Mahatma Gandhi University intend to assist students to develop the ability to critically analyze financial information and make
    sound decisions in the best interests of their future employers. The programme is designed to meet the needs of employers in today’s global economy and will cover topics such as business model planning, strategic thinking, decision making and digital ecosystem and applications.

    The signatories included Sajid Khan, Director – India, ACCA, and Prof Dr Prakash Kumar B., Registrar, Mahatma Gandhi University together with his colleagues: Dr Sabu Thomas, Vice Chancellor, Dr Prof Johny Johnson, Dean, Department of Management Studies and Dr Prof Santhosh Thambi – HoD
    Department of Commerce.

    Commenting on the collaboration, Sajid Khan, Director – India, ACCA said, “The ACCA curriculum is forward thinking and teaches students skills such as adaptability, problem solving and result-oriented thinking to be able to work with dynamic changes and deliver results. Mahatma Gandhi University is the top university in Kerala and a leading educational institution in the country that shares the same mission and vision as ACCA. We look forward to working closely with them to equip their students with the knowledge needed to succeed in their future careers.”

    Dr Sabu Thomas, Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi University said, “We are excited to partner with ACCA to introduce forward looking courses for our students. In today’s era, the industry requires professionals with a good mix of accounting and management skills. This programme will cater to the enormous demand of the skilled professionals who need to be ready to face business challenges in any field.”

    Dr Prof Johny Johnson – Dean, Department of Management Studies, Mahatma Gandhi University said “This MoU collaboration between our institutions, ACCA and Mahatma Gandhi University, will help both institutions in co-creating the programme, ensuring inculcation of professional skills, accounting and management skills in professional accountants of the future.”

    ACCA currently works with more than 7827 Approved Employers globally, enabling students to access global career opportunities. The Professional Accountancy Programme in undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be offered by the university from this academic year.
