  • Apollo Super-Speciality Health Abhiyan (ASHA) Extends High-end Healthcare to Underprivileged

    MUMBAI:
    Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai today celebrated completion of two years of healing and caring. Since the hospital opened its doors to the people of Maharashtra, giving them access to the best of modern healthcare, thousands of patients have been treated at the 500 bedded multi-specialty tertiary care hospital.

    Karthik Reddy, Director, Apollo Hospitals, was present on the occasion and launched Apollo Super-Speciality Health Abhiyan (ASHA) program. This initiative has been supported by Revenue Minister, Government of Maharashtra, Chandrakant Patil, helping economically challenged patients access advanced healthcare for their ailments. Also, multiple initiatives will be undertaken to adopt villages around Kolhapur, providing healthcare services for the underprivileged.

    The Apollo Super-Speciality Health Abhiyan (ASHA), program is an initiative undertaken by Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai, to extend high-end complex healthcare services to the underprivileged. The services can be availed by economically weaker citizens for some major diseases, as per the guidelines of Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Maharashtra

    Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai was launched on November 14, 2016. Since its inception, Apollo Hospitals has undertaken many healthcare initiatives by associating with the Navi Mumbai Government authorities in skill development program empowering the care providers to work in health centers, participated in Prime Ministers and Chief Minister’s health programs, operated 38 children with congenital heart disease free of cost and screened over 25,000 people in free health screening camps.

    In the two years, the hospital has treated over 1 lakh patients, established itself as a leading transplant centre performing 96 transplants. The hospital has achieved many milestones including the introduction of, 1st in Western India to offer Mazor Robotic Spine Surgery System, performing liver transplant on youngest recipient in Western India, performing a liver transplant on a critically ill one-year-old baby who was the smallest at 6.5kg to have undergone a liver transplant in Maharashtra, successfully performing India’s 1st complex hernia surgery on a 101 year-old, and implanting the smallest and most advanced leadless pacemaker in an 85 year old patient.

    One of the foremost priorities of the hospital has been to extend charitable services to economically challenged families of Maharashtra under the Apollo Hospitals Charitable Trust program. Some of the initiatives undertaken by the hospital include initiating crowd-funding programs for its patients from the underprivileged section of society who require high end complex treatment and care. We have funded multiple patient care initiatives through various Government agencies, NGO’s, Crowd funding, along with a portion of it supported by Apollo Foundation.

    Apollo Hospitals Charitable Trust is a registered entity. Through this trust and other initiatives, medical treatment is provided at free of cost or subsidized for patients from underprivileged families.
