Plate cutting ceremony of the two “500 Passenger cum 150 Tonne Cargo” Vessels, being built for the Andaman & Nicobar Administration was held on March 3, 2017.

The plate cutting ceremony is one of the initial milestones in the construction process of a ship. These are the first two ships (“Vessels”), built for the A& N Administration, with a capacity of 500 passengers and 150 Tonne cargo. CSL has also been awarded two more vessels with capacity of 1200 passengers cum 1000 tonnes cargo for the A&N Administration.
Madhu S Nair, C&MD CSL delivered the welcome speech. Capt Anoop Kumar Sharma, CMD, SCI and Capt Rajinder Kumar, Director Shipping Services, A& N Administration. Ajitth Sukumaran, Principal Officer, Mercantile Marine Department also addressed the gathering.
Directors of CSL, representatives from the Indian Register of Shipping, American Bureau of Shipping, officers, supervisors and workmen of CSL attended the function. C& MD SCI also dedicated the 200 KWP Solar Power Plant. With the commissioning of this 200 KWP capacity plant, CSL currently has a total installed capacity of 535 KW of Solar power.
During the current financial year, CSL has completed construction of 20 Fast Patrol Vessels built for the Indian Coast Guard – the last one of the series, the 20 th vessel was delivered in December, three months ahead of schedule. CSL has also delivered the Deck Cargo/Jacket Launch Barge to National Petroleum Construction Company, Abu Dhabi during the current fiscal.
