  • Curtain Down on ‘India Skills Kerala 2018’ Grand Finale

    KOCHI:
    Showcasing the skill and excellence of immensely-talented students, the three-day grand finale of ‘India Skills Kerala 2018,’ concluded at Marine Drive here on Monday.
    The event was jointly organised by Industrial Training Department and Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE), the nodal agency of the state government for its Skill Development Mission.
    Additional Chief Secretary, Labour and Skills Department, Tom Jose, gave away the prizes to the winners at the valedictory function. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the event will be a stepping stone for the talented students to become job providers of the future.
    Dr. Sriram Venkitaraman, Director, Employment and Training, and Managing Director, KASE, presided over the function. C. Prathap Mohan Nair, COO, KASE proposed a vote of thanks. P.K. Madhavan, Additional Director, Industrial Training Department welcomed the gathering.
    The 112 finalists qualified for the grand finale by beating 7,422 participants in the district and zonal competitions. The state-level winners will represent Kerala at the ‘India Skills 2018’ planned in July, which will pave the way for their participation in the 45th World Skills Competition in Kazan, Russia in 2019.
    The winners from the 20 sectors got Rs 1 lakh each and the runners-up were given Rs 50,000 each as prize money. Consolation prizes were awarded to the participants, who entered the state-level competitions.

K, runner-up: Syed Nisa (Fashion Technology); Winner: Ashik. S.V, runner-up: Nikhil Varghese (Electronics); Winner: Sharon. K.S, runner-up: Sarath. S.S (Mechanical Engineering CAD); Winner: Abhishek. C, runner-up: Shafeek Rahman. M (Electrical Installation); Winner: Nandu. K.M, runner-up: Sijo Joseph Perera (Welding); Winner: Ravisankar. S, runner-up: Jithu Thilakan (CNC Miling); Winner: Francis Lijo, runner-up: Christo. C (CNC Turning); Winner: Ayana. R, runner-up: Adhith. K (Bakery); Winner: Ajith Joseph, runner-up: Vishnu. M. Raj (Restaurant Service); Winner: Muhammed Sharafudheen. K.P, runner-up: Vishnu Chandramohan Nair (Automobile Technology); Winner: Jebin Williams, runner-up: Dona.
