VIJAYAWADA:
Dr. Sridhar Oral Health Foundation and The Indian Red Cross Society, Krishna district, set a world record by examining 21, 671 persons for dental health issues in just eight hours at the largest dental health check-up on Wednesday.
The feat, aimed at promoting oral health, was recognised by the Guinness World Records, announced District Collector B. Lakshmikantham. Guinness World Records’ official adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar presented the certificate of recognition to Lakshmikantham at the closing ceremony of the campaign at Fr. Devaiah auditorium of Andhra Loyola College.
Renowned dentists Dr. A.S. Narayana and Dr. C.K. Dhanasekharan were presented lifetime achievement awards on behalf of the Foundation by Lakshmikantham and MP Kesineni Srinivas. Addressing the gathering, Lakshmikantham said that the successful campaign was a result of a week’s hard work by the members of foundation, schools, colleges and the Red Cross Society.
The MP congratulated Dr. Sridhar, chairman of the Foundation, practitioners, dental students and others involved in successfully taking up such a huge campaign. The dental check-up began at 8 in the morning and thousands of students from city schools walked in during the following eight hours.
Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram district Collector K. Veera Raghava Rao, Krishna Joint Collector-II P. Babu Rao, Red Cross district unit secretary Bala Subramanyam, and DTC E. Meera Prasad were among those present.
