  • E-Aasthi: Now get your Khata at the Click of a Button

By NE Reporter on October 28, 2021

    BENGALURU:
E-Khata will soon become a reality in Bengaluru with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike planning to introduce the new software called e-Aasthi customized for BBMP by the state e-governance department and National Informatics Center which has been integrated with another application called Kaveri.

The BBMP is planning to introduce it in the east zone of Bengaluru followed by west, and eventually in all core areas of the city covering about 100 wards. This significant move by the BBMP will ensure transparency in real estate transactions and prevent property frauds.

“Any step in the direction of hands-free operation without human interface is a welcome move. Once a property is registered and has been verified the automated system should take care of this. Minimum human interference is the need of the hour and will enable property investors to have the comfort of one painful step being eliminated. We are looking forward to the Government taking more such proactive customer friendly steps. These steps certainly enable the suffering Real-estate to have some relief,” says Suresh Hari, Chairman, CREDAI Bengaluru.

With the new software, citizens can apply for Khata at the click of a button and also do property transactions online. All they need to do is submit relevant documents along with their Aadhar number.

“The digitization of the Khata process is a step in the right direction for the real estate industry. It will enhance the convenience of record keeping and accessibility for the home owners,” agrees C N Govindaraju, Chairman & Managing Director, Vaishnavi Group.

Getting a Khata for a property has always been an arduous task for any property owner. With e-Aasthi, the process is assured to become faster.

“E-Khata certificates will introduce both transparency and ease in the lives of property owners as long queues, physical paperwork and multiple visits to the Sub- Registrar office have long been a deterrent for home owners,” avers Monica Matthias, Director, Hoysala Projects.

There will be a Digilocker in which digitally signed documents will be bar coded and uploaded. The digital Khata certificate will have 47 types of information which will include the photograph of the property owner. This will ensure zero fraud. Apart from this, owners can update property records on their own through the portal.

Last year, the BBMP had implemented a pilot of e-Aasthi in 3 wards. Now e-Aasthi will be launched in 100 wards within the next 1 month.

“Digital Khata will eliminate corruption as it reduces bureaucratic involvement and makes purchase of property simpler and faster,” concludes Errol Fernandes, Chairman & Managing Director, Ferns Estates.
