THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Genrobotics, the developer of the internationally acclaimed Bandicoot robotic scavenger—the world’s first robotic solution designed to eliminate manual scavenging—has launched legal proceedings against Chennai-based startup Solinas Integrity Private Limited in connection with infringement of patent to its proprietary technology.
Genrobotics, which holds patents for its robotic manhole cleaning technology, approached the appropriate legal forum to safeguard its intellectual property, and the case has been admitted for hearing and is currently under judicial consideration.
The legal dispute concerns the development of Solinas’ HomoSEP Sewer robot, which Genrobotics claims that it incorporates technologies and concepts that are substantially similar to those protected under the company’s existing patents for the Bandicoot robot.
The company has asserted that these similarities raise serious questions regarding potential unauthorized use of its proprietary technology, prompting the current legal proceedings. Nevertheless, Genrobotics has agreed to the suggestion to explore the possibility of settlement through mediation in this matter, as proposed during the hearing on 21/04/2025 before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi.
In a statement, Genrobotics said it affirms its commitment to promoting ethical innovation and protecting original technological contributions within India’s growing deep-tech ecosystem.
“As the matter is now sub judice, the company will refrain from further public comments and will await the outcome of the legal process,” it added.
