Global Recognition to CUSAT Professor

Dr. K.N. Madhusoodanan, Vice Chancellor, Cochin University of Science and Technology(CUSAT), conveyed appreciation to Dr. C.P. Reghunadhan Nair, Emeritus Professor, Department of Polymer Science and Rubber Technology, ranked among the top 2% Polymer Scientists as per the rank list prepared by Stanford University, USA.

Dr.Reghunadhan Nair who passed M.Sc. in Chemistry from CUSAT with first rank and later obtained Ph.D in Polymer Science from Louis Pasteur University in France with distinctly outstanding grade, was a Scientist in Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre(VSSC) from where he retired as the Deputy Chief in 2016. He has developed several
new materials during his career as a Scientist in VSSC and has 18 patents to his credit.

It was Dr. Nair was instrumental in resolving a serious problem with the liquid propellant during India’s Mars mission while it was at 12 days’ distance from the planet, through simulated experiments from earth. He has also served as UGC Visiting Professor and KSCSTE Emeritus Scientist in CUSAT. He has successfully guided 15 Ph.D scholars, authored more than 210 research papers, 10 books and 20 chapters in different books.

He has written around 50 popular science features and has been contributing articles to education pages of front line Malayalam dailies frequently. He has received many awards of the central and state governments for excellence in research. Recently, he has developed a technology for polyurethane based on rubber seed oil which is ready for transfer. He is also proficient in French and German languages and has visited many research institutions in USA, Europe, Japan, etc.
