  • Godrej Consumer Products Launches Goodknight Naturals Neem Agarbbatti

By NE Reporter on June 15, 2019

    KOCHI:
Goodknight, a market leader in the home insecticide category launched, Goodknight Naturals Neem Agarbatti, a 100% natural mosquito repellent agarbatti (incense stick). Goodknight Agarbatti is infused with nature’s two most potent natural ingredients – Neem and Turmeric which can repel mosquitoes and provide effective protection.

Vector-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya, etc. remain public health threats across India including Kerala. According to National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) data, Kerala witnessed 3933 cases of dengue and 908 malaria cases in 2018. Goodknight with its mission of protecting each and every citizen from vector-borne diseases across the country has always offered superior, affordable and safe solutions.

With the launch of Goodknight Naturals Neem Agarbatti, the brand is empowering Indians to fight against the menace of mosquitoes with a 100% natural solution. Sharing her thoughts on the launch, Somasree Bose Awasthi, Category Head, Godrej Consumer Products Limited, said, “Brand Goodknight has always led innovations in the home insecticide space. Be it Goodknight Fast Card, Power Chip or the Fabric Roll-on, we have always disrupted the market with unique formats which are highly effective and safe to use.”

She further added, “In a market that has many illegal brands of agarbattis with questionable ingredients, Goodknight Naturals Neem Agarbatti with 100% natural ingredients – Neem and Turmeric will be a very effective and safe solution for all. While other alternatives burn for 20-30 minutes, each stick of Goodknight Naturals Neem Agarbatti burn for 3 hours and releases less smoke.Priced at INR 15 for 10 sticks, this is one of thevmost superior product offerings at an affordable price point.”

In recent times, prevalence of illegal agarbattis claiming mosquito repellent properties has gone up across India including Kerala. Acknowledging the spread and adverse health impact of spurious agarbattis that are laced with unregulated ingredients, authorities and industry associations have initiated action against manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers in states likeAndhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Orissa.

Jayant Deshpande, Secretary and Director, Home Insecticide Control Association (HICA), a reputed organization of the domestic home insecticides sector, said, “There is a need to create awareness amongst consumers about unregulated agarbattis in the market. Products from unscrupulous players do not go through the regulated manufacturing processes and basic checks on safety parameters of skin, eye and respiratory system which is mandated for all home insecticide products. All illegal agarbattis flout norms and are not tested on the aforementioned parameters. Any usage of these illegal agarbattis is highly risky for citizens across age groups.”

Increased usage of illegal agarbattis or incense with unknown combustible material can trigger asthma, bronchitis, reactive airways disease and other respiratory ailments. It is time people in Kerala take note of this serious issue to ensure safety of their families. While it is essential to be protected from mosquito bites and possible dreadful diseases, it is sensible to use approved & natural products such as Goodknight Naturals Neem Agarbatti.
