Group Legrand India Upgrades Plastic Waste Recycling Unit at INS Venduruthy

Group Legrand India, a leading provider of electrical and digital building infrastructure, in collaboration with INS Venduruthy of the Southern Naval Command, has upgraded the Plastic Waste Management unit at the Naval Base, Kochi. This unit aims to recycle plastic waste and eliminate single use plastics.

As part of this joint effort, Group Legrand India sponsored essential equipment including baling machines, plastic shredding machines, an environment friendly heavy-duty incinerator and sanitary napkin incinerators. Two Environment friendly e-vehicles were also provided towards ensuring segregated garbage collection at source.

The initiative will benefit the city of Kochi and society at large, with the recycling of 250-300 tonnes of plastic waste annually. As a part of the Kochi Naval Base’s larger initiative of ensuring zero solid waste output from the 11000 plus strong community, facility aims to be a model initiative for management of waste by communities. Both the Indian Navy and Group Legrand India are dedicated to environmental sustainability and sustainable practices, demonstrating their commitment to environmental responsibility through this Plastic Waste Management effort.
