  • HITES Develops Prototype Models for Building Ambitious Healthcare Projects

By NE Reporter on August 28, 2017

    NEW DELHI:
In tune with the Central government’s initiative to assist states in setting up ambitious healthcare facilities, HLL Infra Tech Services Ltd (HITES), a subsidiary of HLL Lifecare Ltd (HLL), has developed prototype models for an array of projects, including building of super-specialty hospitals, medical colleges and cancer treatment centres.
The prototype models have been prepared in the form of handbooks which provide the entire gamut of information on hospital architecture, such as costing and estimation, land requirement, infrastructure and service planning for healthcare facilities. The handbooks also provide information on manpower planning, Information Technology requirements, medical equipment and furniture planning of hospital architecture.
C K Mishra, Secretary, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said such a pioneering initiative of HITES would help various state governments in undertaking and executing healthcare projects with greater efficiency and in a reduced timeframe.
“Meeting infrastructure requirements of healthcare delivery, especially in futuristic smart cities, would involve meticulous planning, efficient execution and cost-effectiveness of a project. Besides the state governments, even private players in health sector would benefit enormously while undertaking projects like hospitals, medical colleges and super-specialty health centres,” he said while releasing the booklets on Friday last.
Senior officials of the ministry, HLL CMD R P Khandelwal and HITES CEO S N Sathu were among those present during the launch.
The booklets provide detailed information on building healthcare facilities like a 120-bed super specialty teaching hospital, medical college (with a strength of 100 admissions), Mother & Child Hospital (30-bed, 50-bed and 100-bed), oncology centre, dialysis centre, wellness centre, rehabilitation centre, emergency unit and centre for ageing (30-bed unit).
One of the handbooks deals exclusively with healthcare solutions for smart cities of future while another provides information on building centre for ageing.
Khandelwal said the handbooks provide comprehensive information on building healthcare facilities right from planning to infrastructure, from cost estimation to upkeep of the facilities.
“It will serve as a ready reckoner for various state governments and private players in building healthcare facilities. The reference books have also been prepared keeping in view the requirements of India’s upcoming smart cities,” he added.
Sathu said the handbooks, in line with the objectives of the National Health Mission (NHM), would give HITES, the Executing Agency of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry and several state governments, an edge over its competitors in providing state of the art consultancy services such as infrastructure development, facility management, procurement and allied services.
HITES, India’s only comprehensive healthcare service provider, has developed competencies for Project Management Consultant and biomedical engineering services, procurement of medical equipment, and facility management. Apart from Infrastructure Development, it has three more verticals: Facility Management, Procurement & Consultancy and Biomedical Engineering Services.
