  • Indian Biodiversity Congress 2017: Last Date for Submission of Abstracts Extended to January 31, 2017

By NE Reporter on January 13, 2017

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The Fourth Edition of the Indian Biodiversity Congress (IBC 2017) has extended the last date for the submission of abstract(s) to January 31, 2017.
According to Dr P. N. Krishnan, Emeritus Scientist, Malabar Botanical Gardens, Kozhikode, and Secretary General, IBC 2017, “Considering the holidays in universities and colleges, the committee has decided to extend the last date for the submission of abstract(s) to January 31, from the earlier decided date of January 15”.
The Fourth Edition of the Indian Biodiversity Congress (IBC 2017) & Expo, held once in two years, will get underway on March 10, 2017, in the Union Territory of Puducherry.  To be organised by the
Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), Thiruvananthapuram, in association with Pondicherry University, Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Government of Puducherry, Forests & Wild Life Department, Government of Puducherry, Navdanya, New Delhi, Pondicherry Science Forum, Puducherry, and various Governmental and Non-Governmental Organisations, the four-day event will have as its focal theme, “Climate Change and Biodiversity” this year.
The Indian Biodiversity Congress 2017 would include keynote addresses, plenary lectures and oral/poster presentations. The focal theme will have only invited presentations and panel discussion by experts. Meanwhile, papers can be submitted for all the other themes. Oral presentations of contributed papers would be limited to 10 minutes, including discussions.
Though the presenters can opt for oral and poster presentations and the theme, the review committee will decide the mode and theme of the presentation. The abstract(s) should be submitted for both forms of presentations. The number of abstracts per presenting author is limited to one in each theme, he added. The abstract(s) should not have more than 500 words and should be uploaded to the website (www.indianbiodiversity.co.in) on or before 31 January 2017.
A 500-word abstract must contain precise information including a brief introduction, methodology, highlights of results and conclusion. Best Presentation Award will be given under each theme. In the case of poster presentations, information on the poster should flow from left to right and from top to bottom.  Self-explanatory graphics should dominate the poster, and the captions should be brief.

The completed paper should be submitted not later than February 15, 2017.  More details on abstract and completed paper submissions have been made available on the IBC 2017 website. The abstracts may be also be submitted via email at biodiversitycongress@gmail.com.
The IBC 2017 secretariat has said that registration of the authors is mandatory before February 15, 2017, for the inclusion of the accepted abstract in the book of abstracts. There will not be any spot registration for paper presentation, it added.
