  • International Symposium of Antennas and Propagation at Cusat

    KOCHI:
    The 17 th  edition of the International Symposium of Antennas and Propagation (APSYM) organised by the Department of Electronics at CUSAT was inaugurated on the 14 th dec 2020 by the IEEE APS President-Elect Prof J M M Antar of the Royal Military College, Canada, in the presence of the honorable Vice-Chancellor of CUSAT, Prof K N Madhusoodanan.

    During the inaugural address, Prof Antar highlighted the contributions of APSYM held in CUSAT since 1988 as one of the oldest running conference in the area of antennas and propagation. The antennas are our eyes and ears especially in todays wirelessly connected world going through this pandemic. He emphasized the values that IEEE Antennas and Propagation society stands for and how it has been encouraging engineers to solve everyday problems in society.

    Along with him, the honorable Vice-Chancellor emphasised the importance of holding technical conferences as a platform for young scientists and engineers to present their work infront of youngsters and that APSYM is a prestigious program of the university. Pro vice chancellor Prof. P G Shankaran released the proceedings of the conference-APSYM 2020.

    Prof Debatosh Guha from the Institute of Radio Physics, Calcutta; Dr. Gautam Chattopadhyaya, senior scientist from NASA, USA; Prof Karl Warnick from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, USA; Prof. Jean-Marc Laheurte from University of Gustave Eiffel, Paris; Shen Zhongxiang: Professor, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; Dr. Suresh Nair, IEEE India Council Chair; Prof Abdullah P, IEEE Kerala APS Chair are some of the other dignitaries who spoke during the inauguration event.

    Other experts speakers for the event are Prof. Patrizia Savi, Polytechnico di Torino, Italy, Francois Sarrazin, University of Gustave Eiffel, France, Nacer Chahat, JPL, NASA, USA, Robin Augustine, Uppsala University, Sweden, Manju Henry, RAL Space, UK, Binoy Nair, VSLINK, UK, Arun Ashok, Juelich Research Center, Germany , and KT Selvan, SSN College of Engineering, Chennai.
