KOCHI:
A two day international workshop on ‘Digital Media and Disinformation’, organized by Cochin University, of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast, during 21-22 January was inaugurated by Dr. K. N. Madhusoodhanan, Vice Chancellor CUSAT.
Dr. Madhusoodanan stressed the timeliness of deliberations on fake news and the need to have interdisciplinary approaches to tackle the fake news menace. Mir Mohammed Ali, Secretary to CM, who handled the first session delved deep into the societal impact of fake news and underlined the need for all citizens to take small steps to cleanse the information ecosystem around them in order to help get rid of fake news from the society. The workshop will be led by speakers with extensive expertise in print, online and visual media. Sashi Kumar from Asian College of Journalism and AsiaVille news, Farooque Baig of Times Group, et al would be among the speakers on the second day.
