  • KBF’s Kalaawaadi for Anganwadi Workers in Kaippamangalam

By NE Reporter on August 12, 2025

    KOCHI:
The Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) organized a workshop for Anganwadi workers in Kaipamangalam Grama Panchayat of Thrissur district as part of the ABC Art Room program in the run-up to the sixth biennale starting this December.

Thirty-three Anganwadi workers of the panchayat participated in the day-long ‘Kalaawaadi’, organized on Friday in coordination with the Jagratha Samiti activities which are included in the 2025-26 annual plan of the Kaipamangalam civic body.

ABC, which stands for ‘Art By Children’, is one of KBF’s major initiatives aimed at enhancing public familiarity towards art. The program, which seeks to promote and make art an important component in the fields of culture and education, has been the foundation’s initiative right from the first biennale, by organizing exhibitions, educational programs, symposiums and workshops.

Kaipamangalam, which lies north of the historical Kodungallur, is 60 km away from Kochi.

This is the KBF’s research-based arts education program designed for students, art teachers and educators. The goal is not to necessarily turn children into artists, but to create an environment of creativity around them, according to organisers.

ABC intends to start art workshops in government schools and community centres across Kerala in collaboration with local panchayat institutions.

The KBF also announced that a few two-day long art workshops will be held for two batches of 35 people in age-friendly committees, besides ‘vigilance committees’ for women and schools for differently-abled children.

The sixth edition of the internationally famed Kochi-Muziris Biennale, titled ‘For the Time Being’, will run for 110 days, from December 12 to March 31, 2026. The edition is curated by renowned artist Nikhil Chopra.
