KOCHI:
Protests erupted across Kerala as allegations of sexual misconduct in the Malayalam film industry surfaced, implicating several prominent actors and politicians. Opposition leader V. D. Satheesan has accused the CPI(M)-led government of shielding the accused, including MLA Mukesh.
Angry demonstrators in Kochi and Kollam demanded Mukesh’s resignation, with Mahila Congress activists taking to the streets and beating effigies of the accused. In Kollam, protesters assembled outside Mukesh’s residence, calling for immediate action.
Satheesan asserts that the accused are being protected by a ‘power group’ within CPI(M) and criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for not taking decisive action. The scandal follows the explosive Justice Hema Committee report, which has led to FIRs against notable figures in the industry.
