  • Kick Off Meeting for EU Project Begins at Cusat

    KOCHI:
    A four day kick off meeting named ‘FRACTION’ for the European Union project with the theme “Developing future-oriented academic curricula in Teacher Education with innovative methodologies for Nex-Gen Asian HEIs” was inaugurated by Dr. R Sasidharan, Vice Chancellor at CUSAT.

    The meeting is a prelude to the project aimed at capacity building in the field of higher education, is jointly organized by Wroclaw University of Science and Technology and CUSAT. The project is funded by the European Union under Erasmus + project.

    The project is having partnership from Technical University of Dresden, Germany, University of Almeria, Spain, Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic, Shanghai Poly technic University in China, Beihang University (China), University of Transport and Communications, Vietnam, Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences along with GLS University , Ahmedabad, Sambhram Institutions, Bengaluru, University of Engineering and Management , Kolkata, Sathyabama University , Chennai.

    This project is spread over a period of three years with the aim to deliver unique opportunities to enhance education of teachers and attain high quality professional practice which will enable them to respond to the increasing complexity and diversity of educational and social environment and also to enhance the quality and employability of graduates. The modalities formulated to achieve these goals are to develop modern curricula to enhance pedagogical competency and foster professional development.

    The project will carry out capacity building at the partner universities through training for teaching staff in new programme and methodology and create life long learning resources through developing ICT based platform to support the new curricula. This will help both teachers and students to work in the new e- learning environment and to cope with modern technologies and  expectation of the potential employers.

    This project also aims at starting a centre of teaching excellence which will ensure sustainability of project results and internal capacity of each university. Each university will have its own centers and staff will develop new programmes and graduates will be guided to enhance their employability through Centre of Teaching Excellence.

    Dr. Kamila Ludwikowska from the Wroclaw University said that this programme will also create ambient condition to facilitate intercultural relations among partner institutes and nations. Dr. Saju K K, Dr. Zakkariya K A and Dr. Vinod Kumar P P also spoke at the function.
