KOCHI:
A large, white canvas was transformed into a vibrant tapestry of colored handprints and heartfelt messages as the community came together for the impactful ‘Wall of Hope’ campaign, commemorating World Mental Health Day observed globally on October 10. The campaign, organized by Prayatna Centre for Child Development, a leading multidisciplinary center in Kochi, offering specialized services for both children and adults saw enthusiastic participation from the public, sparking essential conversations about mental health and emotional well-being.
“The Wall of Hope is a meaningful gesture, contributing to awareness and a deeper understanding of mental health. It shows that by uniting, we can effectively combat stigma and bring vital awareness to mental wellness efforts across the city,” said Dr. Joseph Sunny Kunnassery, Founder of Prayatna.
The Wall of Hope was quickly filled with colored handprints, personal jottings, sketches, and heartfelt emotions contributed by common people. Each stroke and design carried a unique story of hope, igniting crucial conversations about mental health in a public space. The campaign provided a powerful platform for individuals to express their emotions, share their stories, and contribute to a collective gesture of support and awareness.
“It was inspiring to see so many people come forward willingly to share a part of themselves,” said Jitha, a participant in the Wall of Hope campaign.
World Mental Health Day is dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues, mobilizing efforts in support of mental health, and advocating against social stigma.
