  • Kochi Metro Stations Use Johnson Endura Tac Tile to Aid the Visually Disabled

    As part of its business plan to focus on expanding its consumer reach, H&R Johnson (India), India’s leading Integrated Lifestyle Solution provider offering tiles, bathroom products and modular kitchens, proudly announces the application of Johnson Endura Tac tiles used across the recently inaugurated 11 metro stations in Kochi. Johnson Endura Tac Tiles is one innovation from H&R Johnson’s portfolio that provides cues combined with information to assist visually challenged people to commute independently and to make India access friendly. The first phase of the Kochi Metro has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 17 and the metro rail operations started from June 19 around the commercial capital of Kerala.Kochi Metro Johnson Endura Tac Tiles
    Globally, Tac tile ground surface indicators are an important and mandatory design element in all modern construction and public infrastructure projects. The tactile has been used in all the 11 metro stations across platforms, pathways, steps, etc in the Kochi Metro for ease of commuting for the visually challenged.

At H&R Johnson, we have constantly been engaged in supporting the developmental needs of the citizens by providing specialized application-based solution through innovation. This innovation is a small step by H&R Johnson towards aiding to make India access friendly for the differently-abled and we hope this enables the people in Kochi to travel without any difficulty.”
    The Johnson Endura Tac Tiles are in the size of 30cm x 30cm 10 mm thickness with surface indicators in standardized designs of truncated domes & truncated bars having elevated profile thickness of 4.5 mm. These tiles are highly abrasion resistant and weather proof. They are slip resistant and have high strength and durability. Hence, are suitable to be used in heavy duty public areas like railway stations, metros, airports, driveways, pathways, etc.
    Around the southern part of the country, the Johnson Endura Tac Tiles has also been used in Bangalore and Hyderabad Rail Metro projects in order to provide differently-abled people easy access across the cities.
