KOZHIKODE:
Kozhikode has to ramp up its infrastructure base to tap into its potential to rise as a top tier-two city and a fast-growing IT hub of the country, said Susanth Kurunthil, who is CEO of Cyberpark and Infopark.
Bringing Kozhikode to the forefront requires strengthening its infrastructure in not just IT, but in other verticals as well including the social sector, Kurunthil said while addressing the Vision 2030 seminar at the Calicut Forum for Information Technology (CAFIT).
“With world-class educational institutions such as IIM and NIT, Kozhikode has no dearth of talent. We need to just take steps to retain this talent,” Kurunthil said at the inaugural session of the event.
He pointed out that the state government had been taking upfront initiatives, including policy formulation, for the rapid development of the IT sector. “We must utilize these opportunities at the earliest,” he said, calling for inclusion of the city’s well-off general public for the overall development of this city.
The industries in the city should consider shifting from IT services to IT products, Kurunthil said.
CII (North) Vice-Chair Anil Balan was the moderator of the seminar. Other speakers were KSUM Senior Tech Fellow Rony K Roy, UL Cyberpark COO Kishor Kumar T.K., CAFIT President Rifath Rahman and Founder-President Duleep Sahadevan.
