  • Lav Kush Ramlila Committee invited Amit Shah and John Abraham for Ravana Dahan

By NE Reporter on October 3, 2017

    NEW DELHI:
The Lav Kush Ramlila Committee organized Ravana combustion program yesterday, like every year on a grand scale. The event was graced by the presence of President Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – Amit Shah and famous Bollywood actor John Abraham.
Luv Kush is the most popular Ramlila committee in Delhi that organizes the Ramlila function every year based on a new theme. People look forward to be a part of the celebrations and witness the Ravana combustion program that is carried out by special guests and eminent Bollywood personalities. This year it was John Abraham who burned Ravana’s effigy that signifies the ‘victory of good over evil.’
Commenting on the occasion, Vice President of Lav Kush Ramlila Committee, Secretary Delhi Pradesh for Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha and MD Saurav Beverages, Saurav Gupta said: “Dussehra is a major celebration that marks the end of the nine-day festivity. Celebrated by burning huge effigies of Ravana, it reinstates our faith of good winning over evil. It’s a wonderful feeling every year as we see thousands of people from all walks of life gather here to be a part of the celebrations. This year is indeed very special for us as we feel honoured to have Mr. Amit Shah and Mr. John Abraham together sharing the stage.”
Apart from renowned Bollywood and TV actors, many famous personalities, politicians have taken up roles in the Ramlila. Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari was one of the special performers who played the role of Angad, whereas Ravana was being played by Bollywood’s famous villain Mukesh Rishi. Well-known wrestler Jagdish Kaliraman enacted as Hanuman, Shiba as Kaushalya and Bhojpuri actress Shubhish Sharma as Sita.
Ending the nine-day battle between Lord Rama and Ravana, Dussehra is also celebrated as Vijaya Dashami and Bijoya among Bengalis that marks the end of Durga Puja. According to mythology, Durga had finally killed the demon king Mahishasur, and it is also believed that she departed the earth for her heavenly abode on this day. This makes for a gala celebration on Dussehra.
