Aimed at tapping the huge potential of Kerala’s handloom sector by blending tradition with innovation, the Department of Industries in concert with Handloom and Textiles Directorate is organising the ‘Handloom Conclave 2025’ here on October 16.
Minister for Industries, Law and Coir P Rajeevewill inaugurate the one-day conclave at Rubco Auditorium at 10 am. Minister for Registration, Museums and Archaeology Ramachandran Kadannappally will preside over the function.
MPs K Sudhakaran and Santhosh Kumar; MLAs K K Shylaja Teacher, K P Mohanan, Sunny Joseph, K V Sumesh, T I Madhusoodanan, Sajeev Joseph
and M Vijin, will also attend. Principal Secretary, Industries, APM Mohamed Hanish will welcome the gathering.
A N Shamseer, Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly, will inaugurate the valedictory of the conclave at 3 pm. Officer on Special Duty, Industries, and Director of Coir Development Anie Jula Thomas; Organising Committee Chairman T K Govindan Master and Padmashree P Gopinathan will also be present.
Exporters, trade union representatives and handloom cooperative society representatives will be sharing their insights into the sector in various sessions on topics including ‘Handloom: New Era, New Approach,’ and ‘Handloom Sector: Challenges and Alternatives.’ Dr K S Kripakumar, Director of Handlooms & Textiles, will make a presentation on the measures taken by the state government on the suggestions submitted by the Handloom
Expert Committee in its report.
