  • OYO Annual Travelopedia 2019 Reveals that this Year’s OYO King Hails from Kochi

By NE Reporter on December 28, 2019

    KOCHI:
OYO Hotels & Homes, a young hotel startup and the world’s leading chain of hotels, homes, and spaces today released its annual travel index – OYO Travelopedia 2019.

The second version of this one of its kind index revealed that this year’s OYO King hails from Kochi who stayed in 215 OYO Hotels across the year. Following this, another user from Firozabad stayed in 113 OYO Hotels across the year. The index also revealed that the OYO Queen hails from Firozabad who stayed in 113 OYO Hotels across the year.

Other interesting findings of the index reveal that Uttar Pradesh (UP) emerged as the most welcoming state in India basis the number of travellers and bookings received throughout the year followed by Maharashtra, and Karnataka slipped to the third spot from being the winner last year. Delhi retained its top spot as the city which recorded the maximum number of travel cancellations followed by re- bookings.

The capital city also topped the popularity chart along with being the most-searched destination. Delhi followed by Hyderabad and Bangalore recorded maximum bookings within the first 10 days of every month in 2019. The index also revealed that a single user stayed in an OYO property for 84 continuous nights.

The study also revealed interesting facts like August 09, 2019 was the most OYO’d day with the maximum number of bookings and 11 AM emerged as the most popular time of the day to book an OYO. In fact, every second 5 OYO properties were booked and the brand has recorded a 2.7x Y-o-Y jump in the number of bookings as compared to last year.

For the Independence Day long weekend in 2019 (August 15 – 18), Goa followed by Jaipur and Visakhapatnam recorded maximum pre-bookings.

Commenting on the insights, Gaurav Ajmera, Chief Operating Officer, OYO Hotels & Homes, India said, “Kerala is one of the most significant markets for OYO in India. With the State being one of the most popular tourist hotspots in the country, we cater to varied customer preferences throughout the year. We are extremely happy that a male user from Kochi stayed in over 100+ properties becoming the OYO King. This is a testament of the faith that our consumers place in us and we are excited to further our commitment by continuing our efforts in providing reliable and quality accommodations for everyone, everywhere. Such impact fuels us OYOPreneurs to keep innovating and leveraging technology to build a world-class hospitality experience.”

As expected, the maximum number of bookings were made online via OYO Mobile App (92% – Android + iOS) followed by mobile web (6%) and desktop web (2%). The global app userbase is 77.5 million and the OYO App has been ranked 3rd on Google Play in the travel category further highlighting the popularity
    of OYO.
