THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Kerala Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran on Thursday said the opening of public transport will depend on the guidelines provided by the central government.
Speaking to the media here, Saseendran said the various modalities of running public transport vehicles (buses) will depend on the Centre. “At the moment special services are being operated to carry people arriving at airports,” said the Minister.
He said the demand of the private bus operators to increase the bus fares is a valid one. On Monday, the state owned Kerala Road Transport Corporation started to operate special services from nine city depots in the state capital district to carry only state secretariat employees.
“For this service we charged double the fare. When it is open for public, we will have to decide what rates have to be charged,” added Saseendran.
