Rajagiri College of Engineering Bags All Kerala Maria Philip Memorial Debate Competition

Pooja Vinod and Linta Merin Joly from Rajagiri College of Engineering and Technology were the winners of this year’s competition. Alphy Tom and Steffi Tom from Christ College were the runners up. The best speaker was Pooja Vinod from Rajagiri College of Engineering and Technology.
Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Kochi arranged an elegant setup for a stage and the ambience for a world class debate platform for the youth of Kerala on the 27th of September, 2018.
Prof. J Philip, with an emotional speech, said he was elated by the standards set by the contestants and expressed his gratitude for giving justice of quality to the memory of Maria. Shyam Srinivasan, MD and CEO of Federal Bank, who was the chief guest for the event, spoke about how The Federal Bank Ltd supports women empowerment with the example of the higher percentage of women employees (45%) against the average national rate of 25%. He gave a life education thought with the acronym COOL – Creating Opportunities, Observing the opportunities, Overcoming obstacles and looking for immediate opportunities Lida Jacob, the chairperson of the panel of judges, also mentioned how crucial it is for today’s generation to focus on such contemporary topics.
