  • ‘Ramasangalpa in Kerala’: Seminar Started at Cusat

    KOCHI:
    A three-day seminar on ‘Ramasangalpa in Kerala’, jointly organised by the Department of Hindi in Cochin University of Science and Technology and Bharatiya Sahitya Pratishtan, started at Cusat Seminar Complex.
    Dr. Anil Vallathol, Vice Chancellor, University of Malayalam inaugurated the seminar at a function presided over by Dr. P.G. Sankaran, Pro Vice Chancellor, Cusat. Despite of the other versions of Ramayana, Keralites accepted Ezhuthachan’s Rama whom they found created according to their taste, said Dr. Anil Vallathol.
    The story of Rama is still continuing its journey in new forms in the contemporary socio-political environment. Keralites grew Rama as a democratic protagonist who is able to communicate to the entire human community without any discrimination, he added.
    Educational institutions should be open to all creative activities of students related to art and culture which will enable them to be far away from unwanted and violent strikes, said Dr. P.G. Sankaran, Pro Vice Chancellor. Famous Malayalam Writer C. Radhakrishnan, Dr. K. S. Radhakrishnan, Former Chairman, PSC, Dr. Yogendra Pratap Singh, Director, Ayodhya Shodh Sansthan, Dr. N. Mohanan, President, Bharatiya Sahitya Pratishtan(Kochi), Chandradasan, Director, Lokdharmi, Dr. P. V. Vijayan, Former President, Bharatiya Sahitya Pratishtan(Kochi) and Dr. K. Vanaja, Seminar Co-ordinator spoke on the occasion.
    On the second day of the seminar, tomorrow, Dr. P.S. Radhakrishnan, Dean, School of Letters, MG University, Chandradasan, Director, Lokdharmi, Shreekumar Mukhathala, Programme Director, Akashvani, Kochi, Prof. Jayalakshmi, Former HOD, Department of Music, Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, Sreevalsan J. Menon, Music Director, Dr. Raghavan Payyanadu, Former Director, Folklore Institute, Karivelloor Murali, Theatre activist, Dr. Aju. K. Narayanan, Asst. Prof., School of Letters, MG University will present papers on different topics.
