  • Southern Railway GM Conducted Annual Inspection at TVM

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
    R.K. Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway conducted the annual inspection of Thiruvananthapuram Division and reviewed the Division’s performance. Prakash Bhutani, Divisional Railway Manager of Thiruvananthapuram Division, Principal Head of Departments, other officers and staff accompanied the General Manager. Thiruvananthapuram Central, Kazhakuttam, Varkala Sivagiri, Kollam, Karunagapalli and Kottayam railway stations in Thiruvananthapuram – Kollam – Kottayam section were inspected.
    At Thiruvananthapuram Central, R.K. Kulshrestha inspected various facilities viz., the running room, crew lobby, RRI cabin, C & W depot, etc. Later, the General Manager, along with the team of officers, inspected Kazhakuttam railway station and the Points & Crossings. At Kazhakuttam, TSS was also inspected. As the inspection progressed, the General Manager inspected a major bridge between Paravur – Mayyanad railway stations in Thiruvananthapuram – Kollam section.
    Upon reaching Kollam, the General Manager, accompanied by the team of officials, inspected the railway station. He also inspected the staff colony, Health Unit, RRI cabin and the works pertaining to provision of second entry. Furthermore, at Kollam railway station, R.K. Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway interacted with the Track Machine Staff and received their feedback on field conditions.
    Proceeding from Kollam, the General Manager inspected a major bridge between Perinad – Sasthankota railway stations in Kollam – Kayankulam section and interacted with the engineering department Ultrasonic Flaw Detection team. Later, he also inspected a curve between Sasthankotta – Karunagapalli railway stations.
    R.K. Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway also conducted an inspection at Karunagapalli railway station. during his inspection he interacted with the Over Head Equipment maintenance gang comprising of all women staff.
    As the inspection progressed beyond Kayankulam, the General Manager inspected Chengannur railway station and analysed the passenger amenities at the station. Proceeding further, R.K. Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway inspected the progress of doubling works between Changanaseri – Chingavanam in Kayankulam – Kottayam section.
    Apart from inspecting various railway stations and associated facilities, staff colonies, railway hospitals, bridges, etc., the General Manager released a booklet on Track Maintenance brought out by the engineering department of Thiruvananthapuram Division. He also released a booklet, containing safety precautions to be adopted while working in electrified areas, prepared by TRD department of Thiruvananthapuram Division. The General Manager released yet another booklet on Signals brought out by Thiruvananthapuram Division.
    During the course of inspection, the General Manager interacted with Passenger Associations and commuters at various railway stations and received their representations and assured that their issues will be looked into.
    R.K. Kulshrestha also addressed the Print and Electronic Media at Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam and detailed them about the developments taking place in Southern Railway and Thiruvananthapuram Division. He also briefed them about the progress of the various developments in the region.
    During the course of inspection, the General Manager declared cash awards to outstanding employees for taking utmost care to ensure safe operation of trains, for their contribution towards upkeep of work places & railway stations and in appreciation of their efforts leading to smooth functioning of railways. He also distributed merit certificates on the spot.
