Sports is My Life Athletic Welfare Association Inaugurated

Sports is my life Athletic Welfare Association brings together those who have set new speeds and distances on track and field under one umbrella. Minister for Registration and Co Operation V N Vasavan officially inaugurated the Sports is my life Athletic Welfare Association today (18.12.2021) at the Arukutty Club Mahindra Resort. The opening ceremony became a meeting place for those who fought and coached each other on the track. Dronachariya KP Thomas, T P Ouseppe, boxer K.C. Lekha and others were honored at the function.

Minister V.N. Vasavan said if the association will register under the Co-operative sector It would be more beneficial that this will enable the government to provide assistance to the organization. He added that in the future, the organization should also focus on preparing training colleges and training grounds for athletes.

Coaches and former players came to the event to take a break from the hustle and bustle of sports meetings. The Guruvandanam program of the students who honored the coaches at the inaugural function was also different. More than 55 sports teachers were honored. Sports Council President Mercy kuttan, Shiny Wilson and PR Sreejesh shared their Olympic experiences at the event. Olympians Chitra K Soman, Manjima Kuriakose, Preeja Sreedharan, Rosakutty, Mayukha Johnny and Sini Jose were also present.

Alex Antony, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, who participated in the recent Olympics, was honored with a cash award of Rs.25000/- by ASWA sports club chairman A.P Sebastian along with president Roy Varghese and and Vice President jaimes Edakkattukudy.

Sports Is My Life Athletic Welfare Association is the largest association representing Kerala in track and field sports personnels. The association aims to identify and assist struggling athletes and to help educate and train economically poor children. Roy Varghese is the patron of the organization. Preeja Sreedharan, P. Anil Kumar, Ranjith Maheshwari, V V Jeesh kumar and Rajas Thomas are also in the leadership of the organization.
