The third programme under the Chancellors Chair scheme of CUSAT was inaugurated by Justice (Rtd.) K Sukumaran at the School of Marine Science in the Lakeside campus of the University.
Dr. R Sasidharan, CUSAT Vice Chancellor presided. This time Department of Marine Biology Microbiology and Biochemistry of CUSAT is hosting the Chancellors Chair. Prof. David M Checkley Jr., Emeritus Professor of Oceanography, University of California San Diego, is the Chancellors Chair professor. Chancellors Chair was instituted at the time of former Vice Chancellor Dr. J Letha, utilizing half of the prize money of 5 crores which the University bagged as a part of the Chancellors award 2017.
The scheme envisages the visit of an eminent academician from university/higher education institute all over the world with global ranking within 200. The University of California San Diego is ranked 31 in THE World University Rank 2018. Dr. N Chandramohanakumar, Dr. Rosamma Philip, Dr. S Bijoy nandan, Dr. Annekutty Joseph and Dr. Priyaja P spoke at the function.
