

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Global real estate and investment advisory firm, Colliers India, has identified the Kerala capital, Thiruvananthapuram, as an emerging strategic hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), governance, research, and technology in South India.
The new “City Profiling Report of Thiruvananthapuram” underscores the city’s unique position, combining a deep institutional legacy with high-growth, next-generation innovation.
The report was formally unveiled by Seeram Sambasiva Rao, Special Secretary, Electronics & IT Department, Govt. of Kerala, alongside Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd), CEO of Technopark, Susanth Kurunthil, CEO of Infopark & Cyberpark, Lead IT Strategists of Govt. of Kerala and IT Park officials during the recent GCCs Conclave – ET GCC SURGE 2025 held in Kochi.
The Colliers report underscores the capital’s transformation into a strategic epicentre for the digital economy, driven by its exceptional ecosystem.
Sambasiva Rao noted that the city offers an ideal environment for GCCs, IT services, and next-generation startups, backed by a robust technology ecosystem, cutting-edge infrastructure, and a highly skilled talent pool. He further emphasized that seamless connectivity and a supportive policy framework enhance its appeal for innovation-led investments.
Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd), CEO of Technopark, stated that Thiruvananthapuram offers a compelling blend of intellectual capital, institutional strength, and high quality of life, making it a naturally evolved destination for global technology players. The report explicitly points out the city’s advantage of lower operational costs compared to Tier-1 cities, making it a prime destination for investors.
The Colliers report asserts that Thiruvananthapuram has transformed into a strategic centre for knowledge-based industries, offering a compelling blend of competitive advantages for global firms. The city offers lower operational costs compared to Tier-1 cities, making it a prime location for investors seeking to optimize budgets without compromising quality. This is further strengthened by a highly skilled talent pool thanks to the state’s educational focus.
The report emphasizes the city’s future readiness, citing key infrastructure projects and its role as an R&D powerhouse. The city’s status as a strategic gateway is strengthened by milestone projects such as the Adani Vizhinjam Port, the coastal highway, and the outer area growth corridor. Upcoming IT developments within the Technopark ecosystem, including the Down Town Trivandrum by Taurus, the World Trade Centre by Brigade Group (Phase-3), and the Quad project (Phase-4), ensure long-term scalability. Thiruvananthapuram is home to premier institutions in space, science, and R&D sectors, including VSSC, IISER, RGCB, IIST, and Digital University Kerala.
