

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The State Tourism Department today launched a major project at Aanathazhchira close to Technocity near Pallippuram in the state capital as part of the initiative to bring to fore unexplored spots to attract tourists, besides promoting eco-friendly and nightlife tourism.
Marking the commencement of the project, Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas received the title deed for 16.7 acres of land owned by the Revenue Department at Andoorkonam Grama Panchayat from Revenue Minister K Rajan.
Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G R Anil presided over the function at Aanathazhchira Ground.
Riyas said this project will be beneficial for the local community, besides giving a facelift to the landscape of the village.
Noting that tourism projects enhance the development of a place, K Rajan said the project will leverage the immense tourism potential of Aanathazhchira, which has proximity to Technocity.
Anil, who represents the constituency, lauded the Tourism Minister for taking up the project proposed by him considering the immense potential of the place.
The eco-friendly project will have priority to water adventure sports, eco-friendly park for children and special track for bicycle ride.
The Freedom Park of Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) is also coming up close to the project area. The park will have an exhibition space featuring latest innovations of startups, as country’s first such facility.
The project was proposed to be implemented in PPP model. An expression of interest (EoI) for the construction activities of project that has been envisaged as ‘night life project’ will be floated in September.
